FORT WORTH -- Betty Ann Terry Tutt, surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014. She faced her Alzheimer's battle with dignity, courage, grace and humor.
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Memorials: Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Betty was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Fort Worth to Ruby Long Terry and Floyd Terry. She grew up in Rendon and attended high school at Trimble Tech. Betty married William "Bill" Byers Tutt, the love of her life, on Nov. 13, 1951.
Her career, as a self-taught secretary and bookkeeper for the East Side YMCA, began in the 1960s. She and Bill bought the local franchise of Rainbow International Carpet Dyeing and Cleaning Company. They owned and operated the company until Bill's death in 1987. Betty continued to operate the business, winning numerous awards and accolades, until her retirement.
After Bill's death, Betty was blessed by another great love, Glenn Stanford. They met through Widowed Persons Services. She and Glenn were the best of companions for the next 23 years. They enjoyed extensive travel as well as spending time with each other's families.
Betty was a longtime member of Arborlawn United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, where she enjoyed time spent with the close friends in her Sunday school class.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Aron Terry and Clarence Terry; her husband, William Byers Tutt; and her special friend, Glenn Stanford.
The family would like to thank Betty's loving caregivers from The Stayton Memory Care Unit, the James L. West Center, and Community Hospice of Texas for their support, empathy and professionalism, especially the last few weeks of her life.
Survivors: Mrs. Tutt is survived by her sister, Margie Buck. She is also survived by her children, Donna Tutt Irvin and husband, David Smiley, Terri Tutt Browder and husband, Mark, and William "Bill" Tutt and wife, Karen; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
