A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 29 at New Riverside United Methodist Church, 3419 E. Belknap St., Fort Worth 76111 with the Rev. Armando Alvarado officiating. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM prior to the service at the church.
Barbara was born in Fort Worth to Joseph Kirkland Brown and Pauline Hauptvogel Brown on January 17, 1933. She graduated from Carter-Riverside HS in 1950 and attended Texas Wesleyan College. She married Arvin Ray Green on June 14, 1952 at Riverside Methodist Church in Fort Worth. They were married for 52 years. She worked as a printer/engraver for Harris Printing, then Burns Graphics, then Kenny’s Kustom Kards until illness forced her retirement in 2000.
She was involved in many areas of service in her lifelong church, New Riverside UMC, formerly named Faith UMC and Riverside UMC. She served as choir member, pianist, elementary Sunday School teacher, leader in United Methodist Women, and was available to help wherever needed. When her girls were young, she served as a Girl Scout troop leader. She loved to read and learn. Everything she did was informed by her deep faith in God and her love of family.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Green; her sisters and spouses, Emma Jo and Charlie Harris, Dorothy and J. B. Flake, Carol Sue and David Brandon; her grandson, Dustin Brewer; and her son-in-law, Freddy Brewer.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret and Tommy Farquhar, and Pamela Brewer; grandsons and spouses, Adam and Kelly Farquhar, and Alex and Megan Farquhar; granddaughter Holly Brewer; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Samuel Farquhar, and Baylee and Brooklyn Brewer; numerous other family members and friends.
