Armo was born March 26, 1929. Her husband, Leroy Eubanks, lived April 13,1926 - Feb 13, 2015. THey were married October 1946. Father, Her father was Isaac Edward Lee (Ike) May1,1888- December 1980, and Mother was Lenora Gwendolyn Lee, (Lilley). Her maiden name was White.
Armo Jean Lee was her given name, When she arrived home her Dad was holding her. The other girls had all been given nicknames by their Dad. So, her sister Wanda asked, Daddy, Daddy, what will we call her. He said Tennie because she is so small. Of course it stuck, and is still known as Tennie with her family. Her father worked for the Rail Road and Farmed. A family of self taught musicians, enjoying music and singing.
She grew up and attended school in the small East Texas town of New Salem Texas. Where she loved playing volleyball. A town without traffic lights or amenities a city has.
She had nine siblings, Madeline, Erma, Lester, Ester, Herward, Bob,Pett, Wanda, Verdell, who loved their baby sister Tennie, who they spoiled appropriately! She lost her mother at age 13 on Christmas morning, 1941. She considered herself a Moma's baby, so it was a difficult loss.
Her Dad later remarried Jewel Lee , an unrelated Lee. Tennie was given notes to give back and forth, since Jewel Supervised the School Lunch Room. She always claimed she never opened or read them. Jewel was an excellent Stepmother and was loved by all. Excellent cook as well, and always made you feel welcome.
Tennie grew up with her nieces and nephews (26), since they were closer in age, and more like siblings. Being the 10th child. This expanded her inner family greatly. She is also the last remaining member of her family, which provided a lot attention from the family.
At 17 she made a trip to Fort Worth with a close friend Doris. During her stay she met and fell in love with Leroy. They soon eloped and drove over to Weatherford Texas to marry. Leroy drove around the court house square inviting all the young people he could find to come witness their marriage ceremony. We don't know how many attended. Leroy soon chose the name Jean, instead of Armo or Tennie. Jean never cooked or learned how growing up. Leroy was a great cook and taught her well. Leroy was a cook in General Patton's Army. Jean went on to become a great cook, and was always looking for the next recipe.
She is survived by 3 children, Ronnie, Rhonda, and Roy; 6 grandchildren, Mandi, Ben, Karl, Shannon, Brian and Whitney; and 3 Great Grandchildren, Emma, Ethan and Eli.
She always set the example for selflessness, praying for others and listening. Always calling and checking up on her loved ones. Always kept her family as her first priority. Ensuring everyone was fed and cared for.
Always the homemaker, even though she worked outside of the home several times.
Jean continued an active life until the end. Walking to all of her meals, visiting, playing group games and always available.
She will be missed by all that knew as Mom, Memo, Jean and Tennie. We all have the assurance she is Home now after a full and long blessed life. Her last prayer shared was for healing for Patti and herself.
