Mando was, above all, a man who loved life. “Sing, Dance and Live Life” That was the motto that he lived by. He always made sure to live his life to the fullest, imparting these lessons to those around him. Throughout the years, from his adolescents in West Texas, through his adulthood in Fort Worth, to his final moments at home, Mando was always smiling, always getting laughs out of people, always with a sparkle in his eye. His love for living never left him, and it stayed with him right until the end.
Mando grew up loving music, and went on to be a singer for eighteen years, being a part of Roy Orbison’s early house band and later, the lead singer for Bobby Crown and the Kappers. This earned Mando a mention in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
He owned Mando’s 7 Up Club for a number of years, in which he cultivated his love for pool, a hobby that ended up spanning thirty plus years and the creation of his own league.
Mando was an avid player of golf, making two holes-in-one during his lifetime.
He then went on to work for thirty years at Miller Brewing, and remodeled homes as a job on the side.
Mando was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He organized massive celebrations that brought communities together through the love of football, demonstrating unity and compassion through rough times. One of his cherished memories was getting to go to the Super Bowl: to this day few experiences have come near it.
Until we meet again CHEERS!
