Anthony Ramirez Vera was born in San Antonio, Texas to Celestino and Eduarda Vera. Following high school, he was appointed to the US Air Force Academy in 1974. In 1975, he transferred to the University of Texas at Arlington to study architecture and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. While studying at UTA, he met Dawanna Parker, his wife of 39 years. They have three children and three grandsons.
Anthony worked as a Vice President for HKS Inc. in Dallas, Texas, where he managed the construction administration for projects such as the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas; the JC Penney Head Quarters in Plano, Texas; the Dial Corporation Head Quarters in Scottsdale, Arizona; and, Park Tower in Chicago, Illinois. His most current assignment was the new Globe Life Field for the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas.
From 2001 to 2011, Anthony was President of EPIC Architecture and Construction in Fort Worth, Texas. During his tenure at EPIC, he completed projects for the University of Texas at Arlington “Smart Hospital” and Civil Engineering Laboratory Building, as well as projects for Tarrant County College District and the General Service Administration.
Anthony was a vibrant, fun-loving man who loved his family dearly. He will be remembered for his optimism, encouraging spirit, and impressive work ethic.
Anthony is preceded in death by his parents Eduarda and Celestino Vera, and sister Elizabeth Allen. He is survived by his wife, Dawanna Kaye Vera, daughter Aubra Bulin and her husband Andrew, son Anthony James Vera and his wife Kathryn, and daughter Alyssa Ann Vera, grandsons David Bulin (12), Gideon Vera (6), and Solomon Vera (19 months) and many brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces.
