Ann Murray, cherished Mom and Gran Gran, left this life on June 16, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born March 15, 1933 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She has been reunited with the love of her life and soulmate Bobby Murray, Sr., dearly beloved son Bobby Murray, Jr. (Lili), mother Lillie, sister Jo, longtime friend and companion Dewey Parsons, and great granddaughter Kierin. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Murray, grandson Shane Rankin (Chrystal), great-grandchildren Jessica and Torin, great-great grandsons Jayden and Jordan, and stepson Charles.
Her childhood was not easy, but she never saw herself as a victim of her circumstances. Ann had an innate desire to beat every obstacle and live life to the fullest. She “might go down but wouldn’t stay there long.” An inspiration to all that knew and loved her, she would stand up, dust herself off and move forward stronger and wiser every time. She loved life, saw its beauty, and was truly grateful for every single day.
Throughout her life, Ann loved to travel and made great progress toward her desire to see the world. She also loved to run and competed in many marathons. In the early years of her career, Ann was a hairdresser and later ran her own salon, Ann’s Hair Flair, in Fort Worth. Later, she became a real estate agent earning her license in 1988. She became very successful and well-respected in the community among colleagues and clients. Ann retired at age 75.
Ann was passionately curious, a lifelong learner, and always eager to analyze every side of any topic. She decided to pursue a formal education, earning her GED at the age of 84. She then went on to help raise her treasured great-great grandson Jayden by caring for him full time while his parents worked, and what a wonderful job she did.
Nothing meant more to Ann than her cherished family. She will be most remembered for her cooking abilities (especially the Thanksgiving stuffing, mashed potatoes, and breakfast gravy), love of lighthouses, hot air balloons, hummingbirds, white wine, true crime and Dr. Phil.
