Anita was born on October 5, 1936, to Isaac Walker, Sr. and Juanita Montgomery Walker in Abilene, TX. Having moved to Fort Worth with her family in 1950, she graduated from I.M. Terrell High School in 1954. She went on to Prairie View A&M University, where she earned her degree in Sociology. After additionally earning her teaching certificate, Anita began her career in elementary education for the Fort Worth Independent School District, where she served with dedication for 41 years. Her love for education also led her to teach night classes for those earning a GED.
In 1969, Anita married Luther Ray Clay of Fort Worth, TX, and together they welcomed a daughter, Lisa.
In 2009, Anita retired from FWISD and spent more time in some of her favorite activities, including reading, travel, theater, shopping, enjoying movies and television and spending time with family. Always a philanthropic spirit, she faithfully donated to many charities dear to her heart. She was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, where she served on several committees before her health prevented her from continuing.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac, Sr. and Juanita Walker.
She is survived by daughter, Lisa Jones (Sheldon) of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Isaac Walker, Jr. of Dallas, TX; grandson, Nicholas Jones of Fort Worth, TX; and loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
