Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel and Cemetery will provide the service on January 31st. 2024. Visitation will be at 10:00, with a Funeral Service at 11:00, Burial immediately afterwards.
Alvin Louis McDonald was born in Fluvanna, Texas on October 27, 1934 to Louis Bateman (Rass) and Lela Lindsey McDonald. He spent his youth between Fluvanna and Bangs, Texas. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and served his country for over 11 years. He married Barbara Mayhew in March, 1955. They had a very busy life following the military and together had 4 children. He married Connie Dunn in 1969 and they had two children. Alvin and Connie moved to Florida in the early 70's and resided there until they returned to Texas in 2022.
Alvin was an airplane mechanic in the air force and had enjoyed sharing stories of his travel around the world. Upon leaving the Air Force, Alvin took his love of cars and his mechanical abilities and became a mechanic and Texaco Owner. He later owned his own mechanic shop.
He loved meeting new people and found happiness in traveling in a motorhome to various campgrounds and RV spots. He never could pass up a good deal. He was an avid wheeler/dealer and loved to buy and sell anything that he could make a buck with. If you knew Al, you also knew it was a requirement to watch WWE every time it was on, because we all know "Wrestling is Real"!
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, His ex-wife Barbara, his wife Connie, son-in-law Clark Mitchell, and his sister, Dorris Wills.
Alvin is survived by his brother Raymond McDonald of Hale Center, Texas, his children, Devonna Mitchell, Beverly Osborn (Mark), Patty Luckie, Steven McDonald, (Vilma) Michael McDonald (Jaimie), and Melinda Adderson-McDonald (Sarah), 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews from the McDonald and Lindsey families.
