BURLESON -- Allen Charles Pennington, 82, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. Allen was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Lubbock. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1951 and then served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he pastored the Faith Baptist Church in Freeburg, Ill. In 1957, he married Jean Wheeler of Belleville, Ill. Allen and Jean enrolled in Texas Tech University. He graduated in 1961 with a B.S. in education. He then attended Southwestern Baptist Seminary and graduated in 1967 with a master of divinity and a master of religious education. While attending seminary, he also pastored the Garden Acres Baptist Church. Allen established Pennington Electric, Inc. in 1968. He was active in and served as the president of the Fort Worth chapter of the Independent Electrical Contractors association (IEC). In 1982, he was elected national president of the IEC and was largely responsible for growing the organization from approximately 300 members to over 3,000 members during his tenure. Allen loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. He joined the First Baptist Church of Burleson in 1971, where he was very active in all facets of the church. He served as deacon and taught his adult Sunday school class for 35 years. Survivors: Jean, his wife of 59 years; son, Brent, his wife, Holly, their children, Andrew, his wife, Madeleine, and son, Brian Christopher; son, Brian Charles, his wife, Amy, their children, Olivia, Georgia and Barrett; daughter, Bridgitt, her husband, Keith Horner, their children, Madison and Christopher.
