Allen was the only son born to Ceferino and Antonia Almodovar on December 9, 1950. He was raised in the New York City borough of Brooklyn along with his two sisters, Iris and Yolanda.
Allen attended Fort Hamilton High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart and love of his life of nearly 47 years, Anita Jorge Almodovar. Together they raised three beautiful children, a son, Allen Jr. and two daughters, Vivian, and Vanessa.
Allen honorably served his country as a Sergeant of the US Air Force. Allen worked for 42 years as a clerk for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2017. He was a faithful member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church where he loved to serve as an usher and volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank.
Allen deeply loved his family and spending time with them; He enjoyed movie nights, music, salsa dancing, playing sports and being outdoors. You would always see him with a shirt or baseball cap of his favorite team and his loyalty to the New York Mets, even after he moved to Texas was unwavering.
In 2017, Allen received one of his most precious gifts, his granddaughter, Savannah Grace, who affectionately called him “Pop”. Their love and connection were like no other. He loved their tea parties, trips to the park, and endured many hours of dress up.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Ceferino and Antonia Almodovar.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Almodovar of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Vivian (Luis) Irizarry of Pine Hill, NJ; son, Allen Jr. (Sam Seeger) Almodovar of Dallas, TX; daughter, Vanessa Almodovar of Fort Worth, TX; granddaughter, Savannah Irizarry of Pine Hill, NJ; sister, Iris (Efren) Caban of Springtown, TX; Yolanda Almodovar of Humacao, PR; as well as, mother-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers who loved him dearly and will remember him always smiling.
