Addie graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1949. She was in the Pep Squad, Sports Club, Softball Club and Basketball Club. This would explain her love of watching her favorite sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.
Addie was married on November 25, 1949, to Alex Eugene (Gene) Barnett who she met at her high school dance while he was singing and playing his guitar. When Addie saw Gene, it was love at first sight. The couple moved to Arlington, Texas after their marriage to raise their three children. Upon their retirement from LTV, they moved to Whitehouse, Texas, the “Farm”. In their latter years of retirement Addie and Gene moved back to Arlington and then to Burleson in 2016.
Addie loved her family time, especially when her kids and grandkids visited her at the farm. It was time to play Spades, Croquet, the Marble Game and Dominoes. She was also very talented with her needlework of knitting, crochet and cross stitch which were beautifully displayed on her walls. She also loved spending time putting together puzzles, some of which were also displayed on her walls.
She loved her Mexican food and if you mentioned El Fenix, she was always ready to go!
She is preceded in death by her four brothers, Allen Baker, Monroe Baker, Onnie Baker and Connie Baker, as well as her three sisters, Lola Faye Cannady, Mary Arms, Edna Segers and one Great Grandchild Justice Parrish.
Addie is survived by her husband of 71 years, Gene, as well as her three children Dale Barnett and his wife Vivian; Deborah Parrish and her husband Bruce; and Linda Beeler and her husband Jim.
Addie was blessed with eleven Grandchildren, twenty one Great Grandchildren, ten Great-Great Grandchildren and her spunky little dog Skipper.
Addie's family would like to thank all of the many loving caregivers from Right at Home, Grandview Nursing & Rehab Center and Alpha and Omega Hospice team.
