Yvonne DeCarlo Winfield

Yvonne DeCarlo Winfield, age 74, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital. She was born October 5, 1948 in Fort Wayne, to the late Charles and Delories (Ricks) Wallace.

Yvonne was the eldest of 7. She married her love, Percy Winfield, on May 26, 1996. Yvonne was educated in Fort Wayne Community schools, where she graduated with honors from Central High School. Later, Yvonne decided to go back and complete her bachelor’s degree by attending Indiana Purdue University. She was a Director with the FW Urban League over the Seniors program; unfortunately, she had to take early medical retirement, something she did not want to do; Yvonne loved her job. It brought her great joy. She often felt like she was giving back to her community. Yvonne was a devoted mother and an amazing “Grandma” she cherished spending time with her family. She loved playing scrabble and bid-whist.

Yvonne leaves to cherish her memories husband, Percy Winfield, three children, Terry Milton-Fort Wayne, IN, Doshia (Jerome) Graham-Pontiac, MI. Charles Whitfield-Fort Wayne, IN; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff Nelson) Banks-Detroit, MI, Jasmine Milton-Chicago IL, Erin Milton-Fort Wayne, IN, Taryn Milton- Dallas, Texas, Charlie Stark-Fort Wayne, IN, Tyler Whitfield-Fort Wayne, IN, Christopher Whitfield-Fort Wayne, London Whitfield-Fort Wayne IN; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, LeeAnn (Kim) Thompson-Fort Wayne, IN; three brothers, Armstead (Marisha) Wallace-Fort Wayne, Clifton Wallace-Fort Wayne, and Wendell Wallace-Indianapolis, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to Yvonne's parents, her brothers, Robert and Kim Wallace, also precede her in death.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Yvonne on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46807.

Please join us in celebrating her life at 12-noon on Friday, December 16, 2022, at New Covenant Worship Center, 3420 East Paulding Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to the service.
