Win graduated from South Side High School and Earlham College. He served in the Army Reserves. Win retired as the Executive Vice President of the Fort Wayne Medical Society in 2017 after 25 years. He had also worked in banking for 30 years. Active in the Fort Wayne Community, Win was a 50-year member of the Fort Wayne Rotary Club, and a 33rd Degree Mason. He also served in various capacities for community organizations such as Allen County Police Merit Board, the Alcohol Antibuse Deterrent Program, the Community Service Council, the McMillen Center for Health Education, American Legion Post 296, the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program, and many others. Win, and his wife, Sarah, were long-time foster parents. He served as the Supervisor of Off Ice Officials for the Fort Wayne Komets for many years, and was inducted into Komets Hall of Fame. Win enjoyed Fort Wayne Komet Hockey and had collected die-cast metal cars since childhood. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Rood; his daughter, Jill (Brad) Noyes; his brother, Doug Rood; and a granddaughter, Adeline. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather figure to many others.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 8pm. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Paulding, Ohio.
