William Richard "Bill" Wagner, Sr., 90, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, residing in Woodburn,- Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at his home. Bill was born on August 30, 1933 in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Ora and Juanita (Craig) Wagner. He was a graduate of Central High School and a member of the Air National Guard. Shortly after graduating, he married Betty (Farra) Wagner in May of 1952. Wanting to share their youth with their children, they started a family right away, with their oldest being born in 1953. After their son, the couple had four girls. Summers were spent on the family farm in the Liberty Center area or traveling the United States. Bill retired from Essex as an over the road truck driver. Prior to that, he was an auto/motorcycle mechanic, working for the City of Fort Wayne. He always had a love for cars and being on the road. He spent time traveling with his bride throughout the United States. One for making trips whenever suggested, he drove to Montana with his daughter, Mary, to see a granddaughter-in-law receive her United States citizenship. A also enjoyed a trip to Tokyo to visit his grandson and family, and a week in Alaska with family. In later years, he enjoyed playing cards with his friends from Phoenix Manor. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed for his sense of humor. Surviving family include his daughter, Mary (Thomas Webb) Wagner-Webb; four grandchildren, Timothy Wagner, his family Doung Wagner and a great granddaughter, Quinn; Ryan Bassett, Meagan (Jim) Vontin, and Adam (Alix) Stephenson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Betty; and children, William "Bill" Wagner, Jr., Jantina Stephenson, Calynn Bassett, and Theresa Wagner. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at C.M. Sloan and Sons, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne with visitation two hours prior. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Contributions in Bill's memory may be made to American Diabetes Association.
