Wendell S. Brown

WENDELL S. BROWN, 74, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born in Ashley, W.V., the son of Dee and Olive Brown. He graduated from Turkey Run High School and Indiana State University with a B.A. in physics. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves honorably discharged as a Captain.
Wendell worked as a timber cutter, at Automatic Electric, and as a traffic engineer at GTE in Fort Wayne. He founded and owned The Tackle Box, M & W Bait Company, and WB Computing. He also owned Uncle Larry's Maps. He was an avid fisherman who excelled in the sport. He participated in many local and state tournaments and a national tournament. Wendell was a member of Summit City Bass Masters. He liked cutting timber, using a sawmill, and built his own kiln to dry wood. He enjoyed being a member of Three Rivers Woodworking Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda S. Brown of Fort Wayne, Ind.; son, Wendell Scott Brown; and a sister, Ellen Fink of Phoenix, Ariz. He is also survived by nephews and a niece and grand nephews and nieces and a great grandnephew.
Wendell was preceded in death by a son, Chris Brown, in 1990 and a sister, Reva McIntyre.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 20, 2022, at the funeral home. Private burial in Forsythe Cemetery, Marshall, Ill. Memorials may be made to Broadway Christian Church.
