VIRGINIA E. "GINNY" REED, 98, of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday at Hospice Home. Born March 26, 1912, in Lima, Ohio, she is the daughter of the late Charles W. and Emma Idona (Myers) Baumgardner. A big "Cubbies Fan", she attended Lima South High School. Later, she worked as a cashier at the former Hoemigs Meat Market for 16 years and was a "Turnkey" at North Highlands High Rise apartments for 21 years. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and the Fort Wayne Turners. "We will miss her dearly and cherish all the memories she gave us. She was the heart of our family and brightened the lives of everyone she met." Surviving are one daughter, Linda (Robert) Bufkin of Churubusco; one sister, Betty Hunt of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; two daughters, Marilyn Hickle and JoAnn Harris; two grandsons, Keith and Kirk Hickle; and one granddaughter, Kathryn Harris. Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1811 Fairhill Ave., with calling one hour prior to services. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
