Verle I. "Zimmy" Zimmerman

Verle I. “Zimmy” Zimmerman, 91, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022 at his home in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born May 14, 1931 in Rochester, IN, the son of the late Leo Verle and Margurite Zimmerman. He graduated from Walkerton, Indiana High School in 1949. Verle served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a 35 year member of the American Legion Post 47. He married Frances L Hammaker, May 17, 1953 in North Liberty, IN and has been a resident of Fort Wayne, IN since 1959. Verle retired from International Harvester in 1983. He enjoyed making firewood with his friends and spent all his allowance on beer and fishing. Verle liked listing to good music on vinyl from the 20’s 30’s and 40’s and going to garage and estate sales. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Frances L. Zimmerman, daughter, Lee Ann (Mike) Smith all of Fort Wayne, IN; three grandchildren, Justin, Rebecca, and Elizabeth. Private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by D.O.
