Thomas K. Roberts

Thomas K. Roberts, 68, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He was born October 30 1951 in Indianapolis to the late Donald George Roberts (Linda) who survives of Williams Center, OH and Susanna Jane Driscoll (Jack) of Sarasota, Florida whom survives.

Thomas graduated from Fairview High School in Sherwood, OH, in 1969. He graduated with an Associate Degree from ITT Technical Institute in Fort Wayne, IN. He retired from Converge One after 31 years of service as a Telecommunication Technician.

Please allow my words to be a tribute to honor my Husband’s life and his memory. There is no way to adequately convey all his amazing layers in just a few short paragraphs, but I will do my best. He was strong and silent, with lots of depth of character. When he spoke, you knew it was going to be either important or extremely funny. His incredible sense of humor was one of the very first things I loved about him. In the 22 years that I knew him, he never stopped trying to make me smile and laugh. In a crowd, he would rather listen, than be the center of attention. One on one conversation was what he valued the most. Some of the very best conversations of my life, were with him. He always jokingly said, “I am the smartest man you know". I would roll my eyes and laugh, but I always thought he was right. No matter what I asked him, he almost always knew the answer. He always tried to encourage me to worry less, be more patient, remember my blessings outweigh my struggles, and it's ok to relax and do absolutely nothing sometimes. He always took his time making decisions; he never jumped into anything without mulling it over and being sure. He was my technology guru, picture hanger, electrician, water faucet installer, outdoor maintenance man, spider killer, reacher of things in high places, and he was all the things I was no good at. Most of all he was my steadfast rock, comedian, biggest fan, encourager, confidant, source of frustration but mostly pure joy, adventure partner, soulmate, my port in a storm, and the true love of my lifetime. There was nothing he wouldn't do to help someone, if he was able to. He was loyal and focused on the good in people instead of their faults. He was a big, strong man with the most tender of hearts. He would always get choked up and tears in his eyes when talking about how proud he was of all his kids and grandkids and how very much He loved them all. He loved his family deeply and the most, his friends, his dogs, the beach, sailboats, old cars, antiques, good memories, laughter, front porches, good food and good wine, sunsets, twisting windy back roads with great views, and a good cold beer on a hot day. His lifetime was a reflection of dedication, hard work, honoring his responsibilities, loyalty, kindness, putting others first, strength, loving, being thankful, wanted to do the right thing instead of the popular thing, and deeply satisfied with his life and blessings. He had a knack for noticing the smallest of details that so many people rush right by and overlook. We became good at perfecting last-minute spontaneous adventures together where we could pack a vacation worth of memories into an hour, an afternoon, a day, or a long weekend. In time, I hope that my sweet memories will help guide my future adventures. He wasn't outspoken, but I know that he was a Christian and loved God. Tom has left a lasting impression on this world and those lucky enough to have known him. I have become and will always be a better person for having had the pleasure of knowing him for such a long time. He was one of a kind and totally irreplaceable. His absence leaves us with bittersweet memories, a hole in our hearts, and a knowledge that he will never be forgotten. Tom always wanted a home on a hill with an amazing view. Now he finally received his wish, and he has the best view of all.

Memorial Service will be 4pm October 8, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home 1320 E. Dupont Road Fort Wayne, IN, with gathering from 1pm until service time.
