Thomas James Pellegrene Jr.

Born on December 26, 1959 in Newark, Delaware, he graduated from Glasgow High School in Newark in 1977. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Journalism from Northwestern University.

In 1982, he moved to Fort Wayne, where he was hired as a reporter and editor at the Journal Gazette. He later became the paper’s News Technology Manager, a position he held until his death.

Tom was a workaholic and loved his job. He was a devoted and active member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne.

When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, he enjoyed watching football, cheering the Philadelphia Eagles and the Northwestern Wildcats. Tom also enjoyed watching Tin Caps baseball and Fort Wayne Komets hockey.

In 1982, Tom met and later married his Journal Gazette colleague, Pamela Heinecke Pellegrene. They were blessed in November 1997 by the arrival of their son, James T. Pellegrene, whom they both loved dearly.

Surviving are his mother, MaryBelle Pellegrene of Lancaster, PA and his son, James T. Pellegrene of Fort Wayne, IN.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas James Pellegrene Sr. in 2009 and his wife, Pamela in 2014.

A visitation for Tom will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. A Celebration of Life will occur on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46815.
