Stephen "Steve" L. McCallister

Stephen L. McCallister, USN (Ret.), 61, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital surrounded by his beloved wife Mary and children at his side. Born September 19, 1955, in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the son of Julia (who survives) and the late, Romy McCallister. He was retired from the US Navy after twenty-one years of service. Steve loved telling stories about his life at sea and his many, many adventures. He loved Jesus and spoke freely about Him. He was a gentleman in every way and considered a friend to many people. He truly had an amazing life and will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him. Everyone who talked to him walked away wiser. He is survived by the “love of his life” Mary McCallister, his mother, two siblings, his children Misty, Nicole and Steve, stepchildren Christina (Mark), Tony (Cheri), Angie (Chris), three grandchildren and six step-grandchildren, Jake, Nate, Anthony, Alex, Jayce and Cameron. Chief McCallister definitely left this world a better place. He will be loved and respected forever. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to the family c/o Mary McCallister.
