STEPHEN POWELL, 69, of Garrett, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 8:20 a.m., at Parkview Regional Medical Hospital. Born Jan. 18, 1944, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Rastes and Laverne (Beerman) Powell. He was a lineman for NAVISTAR, retiring after 20 years and sole proprietor of Powell Trucking. His hobbies included cars and old tractors. Surviving are his sons, Stephen Powell and Shane (Patricia) Powell, both of Fort Wayne; daughter, Sally Powell of Fort Wayne; brother, Robert (Judy) Powell of Bluffton; and grandchildren, BriAnn Smith, Brandon Smith and Sydney Hursey-Powell and companion, Karen DeHabey. Funeral service is noon Monday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Murray Clugston officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Cancer Services of Northeastern Indiana.
