Sompons Junk

Sompons Junk, age 71, of Fort Wayne, IN. passed away on August 31, 2023, at Parkview Regional Hospital. Sometimes known as “PON” or “SAMI” was born in Phayao, Thailand on December 20, 1951. She married Robert F. Junk and came to the United States in 1974 and then moved to Columbia City, IN. Pon became a proud United States citizen in the early 1980’s.

Sompons is survived by one sister “Tu” (Thailand) and her three daughters, “Sunan Dangsumran” (Thailand), “Jeni Lynn and Julie Anne Junk” (both Fort Wayne, IN) as well as 8 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, siblings (of Thailand), ex-husband, grand-daughter and grand-son (all of Fort Wayne, IN).

Her passions were fishing and cooking. Sami was an avid fisherman and chef throughout all the years of her life. Sompons was devoted to both her countries and was a devout Buddhist. She lived pure and simple in her eating and daily life.

A memorial service will be held on September 30th, 2023, from Noon to 3pm at Holy Cross Lutheran Church Aulick Center. 3425 Crescent Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
