Sloan Ella Mattingly, 7 years young, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. She was born on July 18, 2016, in Fort Wayne. Sloan was a first grader at Lafayette Meadows Elementary School.
Sloan was a stunning person from birth. She made you laugh with the words she said and the faces she made, and just as much with only the sound of her laugh. Often, people stopped her family to tell them how precious she was. A true gift from heaven that her parents fully indulged in for her entire life here.
She loved gymnastics, making up games, dancing in the living room with her family, babies, making cards and bracelets for others, and making everyone around her feel included. She held dear to her heart her loving parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, her dog, friends, and teachers. Her very best friend was her brother and hero, Maddox. They are each other's favorite people and have a relationship that will continue for eternity.
She achieved the gold medal for how to live your life. She taught all of us that it’s the smallest of moments, not the grand gestures or flashy things, that make your life full. She is now the sunshine that sustains all of us and pours happiness into even the smallest cracks in our lives. Carry on her legacy by living for the present and being intentional with those you love the most.
Surviving family include her parents, Jason and Therese Mattingly; brother, Maddox; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Jane Sloan; paternal grandparents, Julie and Dan Miller, Kent Mattingly; many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her very much.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 US Highway 24 West, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior.
