Siao Kim Chan Ong, 87, of Fort Wayne passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022. He was born on January 4, 1935 in Fukien, China, a son of the late Tian Yu and Siok King (Chan) Ong. He worked as an insurance agent in the Philippines and at Wal-Mart and AMPM gas station in the United States. In his free time, he enjoyed his grandkids, tending to his plants and pets, and joking around. His smile was infectious, and his jokes (often repeated) always brought a laugh and groan. Surviving family include his children, Jennifer (Loi) Phuong, Steven Ong, Jessavel (Coren) Wong, Johanna Ong, and Sherwin Ong; grandchildren, Nathan and Madeline Phuong, Christopher Wong, and Sophie and Cooper Ong; sisters, Helen (Albert) Limqueco and Evangeline Ong; and sister-in-laws, Mely Ong and Juanita Ong. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Siu Gim (Yao) Ong; and brothers, Harry, John, and James Ong. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1105 Calhoun St., Fort Wayne with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Greenlawn Funeral Home, Fort Wayne is handling arrangements.
