She was born on November 9, 1934 to Charles and Myrna Davis of Augusta, MI. Shirley married Robert A Shaw in 1956 and he preceded her in passing in 2014. Together they enjoyed following U of M sports and camping in Michigan. They also enjoyed a lifelong friendship with Jim (Janet) Walkinshaw.
Shirley was a Red Cross Volunteer for many years and also a Girl Scout leader. She worked at Belmont's-Washington Square and then later worked for Dave's Plants for several years. She only worked a short time each day in the spring but it was the best time of the year for her. She loved talking to the returning customers each year.
She was creative and enjoyed sewing and especially loved making her fabric pumpkins to sell at craft shows and a booth at Creations for many years. She made so many pumpkins over the years that some people knew her as the "Pumpkin Lady".
She is survived by her son, David R. Shaw, of Fort Wayne, daughter, Pamela M. (Larry) Collins, of Florida, 2 grandsons and 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her laughter and love will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
A special thanks to the staff at North Woods Village at Inverness, especially Nurse Mary, and Eleos Hospice, especially Nurse Leah, for the exceptional care and love that they showed her.
A graveside service for Shirley will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Highland Park Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2403 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
