Sharon J. Lapacek, 73, passed away peacefully at home on December 7, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 9, 1947 in Rockford, Ill, the daughter of the late Duane and Jean Foster.
Shari was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother and a terrific grandmother. She was kind and generous to all, regularly putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She worked as a School Aide for over 20 years prior to her retirement, and enjoyed traveling (especially going on cruises), watching the Chicago Cubs, and bowling. She relished the opportunity to visit with her friends, and absolutely cherished spending time with her family and beloved grandchildren. And Shari was a warrior, not only surviving, but thriving as she constantly battled the effects of the rare von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome. She was also a life-long member of the United Methodist Church.
Shari is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 51 years, George Lapacek; children Mike (Jackie), David, and Becky; and grandchildren Adam, Kelsy, and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her sister Pam Bartlett.
