SANDRA KAY CARPENTER, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016. She spent her time caring for her family and also worked at The Lantern for 17 years and was a child advocate for SCAN. She was member of Anthony Wayne First Church of God. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Carpenter; children, Kevin (Leslie) Carpenter, Kathy (Kurt) Morton, Timica (Sheldon) Smith, and Erica Carpenter, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Courtney, Kurston, Jazariea, Makayla, JaNavie, Ariyona, Sean, Jordan, Derek, and Braxton; and special nieces, Sue Trowbridge and Kristin Jordan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Emma Ely; sister, Cindy Mertz; and an infant daughter, Kristy Sue Carpenter. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46809). Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
