Ruth Ione Witmer, 100, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, went to be with the Jesus on Monday, November 14, 2022. She was born December 22, 1921, in Marshall County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Alvin and Elsie Kelsey.
Ruth graduated from Selma High School in 1939 and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She was the bookkeeper for her husband’s construction company, Hacienda Homes, by Melvin Witmer Inc. for 23 years. Ruth was a member of Grace Point Church of the Nazarene and a resident of Heritage Pointe senior living facility, where she regularly participated in resident activities, and loved spending time with the staff and residents. She was previously active in volunteering with Homebound Meals, as well as The Dove's Nest.
Ruth is survived by her son, Kenneth (Steve) Keesler; daughters, Ruthann (Richard) Parker, Carol (Joe) Tharp, Pamela (Charles) Cheney; 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jonas Keesler; her second husband, Melvin Witmer; son, Ronald J. Keesler; and grandson, R.J. Keesler.
A funeral service to honor Ruth's life and legacy will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
