Russell I. Smith, 68, of Fort Wayne passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. Russ was born May 30, 1956 in Kentucky to Walter and Laura (Maxwell) Smith. Russ was a long haul truck driver, operator of Deluxe Cab, and cut and sold firewood. Russ was a hustler at heart, after his retirement, he found enjoyment in fixing and selling lawn mowers. He enjoyed working on old cars with his children and riding his Harley. Russ enjoyed hosting parties, having a beer and being surrounded by friends and family. He is survived by five children, Rusty, Steve, Bobby, Chris and Lisa; 11 grandchildren, Jayden, Adison, Blake, Cameron, Kayla, Logan, Cody, Christopher, Ari’ana, Davon, Shalynn and Taniya; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Smith, Cecil Smith and a sister Brenda Quast. Russ was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nick and two brothers, Dennis and David. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place.
