Bob was born in Marion, Indiana to Charles Robert and Martha Helen Staats. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1947. Bob served in the Indiana Air National Guard, retiring as a Technical Sergeant after 21 years; served as an Allen County Sheriff’s Reserve and Dispatcher; and Parker’s Towing. He was a gifted salesman and covered Wisconsin, New Jersey and Alabama. Bob was dedicated to the military and police and loved to make others laugh. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association, Air Force Association, American Legion Post 241 and Post 47, passe chef for 40 & 8, and member of the Indiana Freemasons New Haven Lodge 740.
Bob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karin A. Schulz; son, Robert J. (Amy) Staats Jr. of Georgetown, KY; step-daughters, Amy Kreiger, of Markle, Ind., and Kari (Andrew) Irick of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Nicholas, Marley, Brent, Drew, Kassie and Keyton; siblings, Ann Lawson, of Shelbyville, Ind. And Michael (Donna) Staats of Lexington, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Martha Staats; siblings, David Staats, and Richard Staats.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 30th, at American Legion Post 296, 130 West Tillman Road, to share memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful guy who will be greatly missed. Arrangements entrusted to Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services – Highland Park.
