Robert D. Gilbert

Robert D. Gilbert, 98, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023. He was born on April 11, 1925 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, a son of the late James Grant and Mary Alice (Forsythe) Gilbert. He served in the Canadian Army. He later spent his career in life insurance primarily as an agent. In his free time, he enjoyed shooting pool and watching golf. Surviving family include his children, David (Suzanne) Gilbert, Susan Gilbert, Valerie (Craig) Dancer, Henry (Linda) Gilbert, and Rachel (Mark) Eisaman; and 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his son, Rob Gilbert; along with a number of siblings. Memorial service will be 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 3:00 pm.
