ROBERT R. "BOB" DeVORE, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at his residence. Born in Toledo, Ohio, Bob was founder of DeVore, Chapel and Pyle Inc. He was previously employed with Aetna Life and Casualty from 1955 to 1970 and Insurance and Risk Management from 1970 to 1991. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Church of Christ, Longboat Key, Fla., Indiana and National Underwriters, Million Dollar Roundtable, Fort Wayne Country Club, American Legion Post 82, Kiwanis International, Rotary Club and was a Chartered Life Underwriter and U.S. Navy veteran. He also was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Denison University where he ran track and played football. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Carol DeVore of Fort Wayne; daughters, Amy Getschow and Natalie (John) Chapel, both of Fort Wayne; son, Rob (Tammy) DeVore of Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Nicholas and Leah Chapel, Alec, Kurt, and Lindsay Getschow; and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Asher Getschow. Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Entombment in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, St. Mary's Soup Kitchen, Humane Society of Allen County or The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
