Ricky ‘Rick’ Lee Callen, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ricky was born on April 29, 1960, in Moberly, Missouri, to Richard Callen and Florence Callen. His father was a district manager working for Norfolk Southern Railway. The family moved around several times due to job requirements for his father. Rick attended different schools and graduated from Mishawaka High School. He attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
Rick worked for American Van Lines since 1982 and retired in 2020. He specialized in licensing, permitting, and taxation. Rick built lifelong relationships with friends he met. They watched sports, went camping, fishing, golfing and bowling. Rick went to Cardinal games in St. Louis with his brother and friends several times. Good or bad, he strongly rooted for his Cardinals, Boilers, and Dolphins.
Although Rick was a man of few words and kept things to himself, he did have a sense of humor. It took years for people to get to know him, but Rick was very generous of his time and helpful to others. He always had a good word for others. Rick’s sudden unexpected passing made everyone heartbroken. The lesson learned is, "Please wear a Life-Alert device to make sure that help is always nearby".
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Florence Callen; and an infant sister, Barbara Ann.
Rick was survived by his brother Gary (Yung-Feng Liu) Callen and many precious friends. He will be deeply missed.
