Richard Leroy Mundt

Richard Leroy Mundt, 89, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born June 11, 1932, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Walter and Viola (Barnhart) Mundt.

Richard worked at Fort Wayne Transit Co. for three years. He then joined the Zollner Corporation where he remained for 33 & ½ years, before retiring in 1989. Richard loved his Lord and Savior. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time at the lake. He married Mary L. Kintz, the love of his life on February 23, 1951. Together they had five daughters, all of Fort Wayne. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Mary L. (Kintz); daughters, Vicki Hack, Diana (Jim) Wheeler, Cheryl (Rick) Orr, Carol Mueller, and Betty (Tim) Wheaton; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Mundt; sister, Sharon Hughes; great-grandson, Nash Wheeler; and his son-in-law, Roy Hack Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1126 South Barr Street, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday, March 28, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
