Richard W. “Red” Kees, 85, of Fort Wayne died Monday morning, April 18, 2022. Born on April 23, 1936 in Fort Wayne, he was the oldest child of the late Dallas and Fern Kees. He retired from International Harvester (Navistar) after 36 years. During this time, he was Springfield Township Trustee and Assessor as well as later serving as a member of the Allen County Council. Richard was a member of the 293rd Army National Guard of Fort Wayne. Richard married his wife, Ann, on September 20, 1958 and they lived in the Harlan area while working and raising their family. They retired to Coldwater Lake, then later moved to Lake George where they were members at Angola United Methodist Church. Red enjoyed lake life with his family in the summer, gardening, and playing Euchre with his lake friends. They have wintered in Florida for 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Ann of 63 years; daughters, Kimberly (Stan) Risser and Kris Conklin; granddaughters, Kali Irving, Courtney Lucas, Tara (Drew) Cagnet, and Hannah Risser; and sister, Beverly (Karl) Wilhelm. He was preceded in death by both parents and brother, Max Kees. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Leo Memorial Park, Leo. Memorials may be made to Parkview Hospice or Angola United Methodist Church.
