Rebecca (Becky) Lapacek, 40, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 28, 1980 in Fort Wayne, IN, the daughter of George and the late Shari Lapacek.
Becky was a devoted mother to her precious daughter Kelsy, at her happiest when she was with her. Kelsy was the love of her life and brought her so much joy and happiness. Becky also had a lifelong love of dancing, starting almost as soon as she could walk, and dancing through high school, college, and beyond. Becky loved the Chicago Cubs and was also an avid Chicago Bears fan. Like her mother, Becky was a warrior, fighting constantly and courageously against the effects of the rare von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome. Even though her life was regularly and severely impacted by VHL, Becky tried to remain positive and hopeful. And she was a kind and generous person, touching many lives in many ways. Becky graduated from Ball State University where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority, and worked as a Case Worker at Park Center. She was also a life-long Christian, attending St. Joe United Methodist Church.
Becky is survived by her precious daughter Kelsy Bachert, her father George, brothers Mike (Jackie) and David, and her nephew Adam and niece Elizabeth. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Becky will be dearly missed.
