Patty Ann Schwartz, 85, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Patty was the youngest of six children born to the late William and Emma (Bachs) Strange. She was raised in the small southern Indiana town of Bruceville with five sisters and one brother. After graduating high school at age 17, she moved to Fort Wayne to live with her sister Vera and her husband Vince Lijewski. There she met John Schwartz, a Korean War Veteran and they were married on July 18, 1953 for 44 years until his passing in 1998. Patty was active in the church and school at St. Paul’s Lutheran and also loved to sew. She enjoyed spending time at “the lake” with family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and they were the light of her life. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and the St. Paul’s Golden Heirs. She is survived by her son, Douglas (Ann); daughters, Joni Schwartz and Kara (Barry) Mezger; grandchildren, Krista (Eric) Hall, Bethany and John Mezger. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Albert Strange, Clara Barrett, Loretta Arnott, Julia Long, and Vera Reardon. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1126 S. Barr St., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will be 4-7pm on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 Saint Joe Rd, Fort Wayne. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
