Patrick Andre Moreau Sr.

Patrick Andre Moreau Sr., age 87, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was the fifth of eight children, born on February 2, 1937, in Mount Clemens, MI, to the late Irwin Clinton and Anna Moreau. Patrick worked for Fruehauf Trailer Corporation in Uniontown, PA, and Fort Wayne, IN, from 1961 until he decided that retirement was his new full-time job in 1992. After that, he and his beloved wife, Rosalie, opened Pat & Rose’s Restaurant in Hillman, MI—where, let’s be honest, Rosalie did most of the cooking while Patrick happily took on the role of taste tester. After returning to Fort Wayne in 1994, Patrick joined Midwest Pipe & Steel and Paragon Tube, continuing to work well into his early 80s. His greatest loves were his wife, Rosalie, and their six children: Patrick A. (Jennifer) Moreau Jr., Denise (Arnold) Grashoff, Debra (Todd) Miller, Diana Rivera, and Christopher (Jennifer) Moreau. He adored his 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who he often said were his greatest achievement—though he might have also claimed his golf swing as a close second! An avid golfer, Patrick was known to hit the links multiple times a week at Arlington Park Golf Course, where he was either a fierce competitor or just enjoying the fresh air—depending on who you asked! He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, doing some of his best coaching from the comfort of his recliner, often making strategic decisions that, unfortunately, only he could hear. And let’s not forget his unwavering support for Notre Dame football, which surely benefitted from his animated commentary. For over 80 years, Patrick created unforgettable memories with his extended Moreau, Mitchie, and Lee families at the family-owned “Lodge” in Hillman, MI, where laughter and love were always on the menu. Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie F. Moreau, and his cherished children. He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew R. Moreau, his parents, and his sisters, Mary Ann and Genelle, as well as his brothers Gene, Pete, and John. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 8, 2024, at St. Charles Borromeo, 4910 Trier Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46815, with calling one hour prior. The family will also receive friends and family from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2024, with a rosary service at 3:30 pm, at D.O. Macomb & Sons Funeral Home- Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Wounded Warrior Project.
