Oscar W. Kruse, 86, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at Ashton Creek Health & Rehabilitation. Born June 27, 1927, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late August and Kathryn (Schneider) Kruse, Sr. He worked for City glass for 26 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked at Crossroads Florist and was a farmer. He was a lifetime member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he was an elder and usher. He was also involved in bowling and in the dart ball league. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Irene W. (Bradtmueller) Kruse of Fort Wayne; two sons, Daniel (Debra) Kruse and David (Malea) Kruse, both of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Kelli (Jon) Rogers, Julie (Nathan) Shields, Justin (Jenna) Kruse and Marisa Kruse; seven great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Patricia Kruse. He was also preceded in death by his brother, August Jr.; and sisters, Erna Boseker, Nora Bruick and Dorothy Widenhofer. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Pastor Peter Cage officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
