Opal “Lavaun” Muth, 94, of Fort Wayne passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. She was born on March 27, 1926 in Jay County, Indiana, a daughter for the late Russell and Jessie (Grile) Keller. She was a graduate from the Ball State Teacher’s College. She was a Home Economics teacher at Geneva High School where she was a class sponsor and influenced many students over the years. She later served as a guidance counselor at South Adams High School. Finally, she worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools doing psychometric testing before retiring. She was a member at Calvary United Methodist Church and later attended Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. She was a skilled seamstress creating many of her own pieces of clothing. Lavaun will be remembered as a wonderful cook, always creating flavorful and balanced meals. Another fond memorial will be her love for her family, of which she always made an effort to be at their activities. Surviving family include her sons, Bob (Muriel) and Tom Muth; grandson, Joshua (Megan) and Nathan Muth; great grandchildren, Griffin and Collins; and sisters, Anna Shoemaker and Jean Davis. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Walter J. Muth; and brothers, Dorwin and Ernest Keller. A private family service will be held. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church. Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
