Nilah May Wellman

Nilah was born at home on the family farm located in Jay County. She graduated from Gov. IP Gray School in New Mount Pleasant at grade 12.

Nilah worked as a telephone operator for St. Joseph Hospital and retired after 30 years of service. She found joy spending time with her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found comfort in her church and her church family. She enjoyed her many trips to North Carolina and Florida as well as family vacations.

Nilah was married to Ronald Wellman on 7/2/77 in Fort Wayne. They were married for 46 years.

Nilah is survived by her husband, Ron, children: Vickie Stanski, Debbie Ward, Donald Shepherd, Roy Davis, Jeff Davis, Mark Wellman, Steven Wellman, and Rhonda Lane and 9 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister: Norma (Jack) Stocker as well as many dear family and friends.

Nilah is preceded in death by Roy and Icy Geesaman (Mother and Father); Brothers: Carl and Gerald Geesaman; Sister: Mary Ann Hardesty; Sons: Dennis and Gregory Shepherd; granddaughter Angela Redwine.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am 2/20/24 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services in Fort Wayne on Wallen Road. Paster Roger Dilley of The Rock Church. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am prior to celebration service. Arrangements entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Highland Park.
