Neva was born in Decatur, Indiana and attended Ball State University where she received her education degree. She taught 4th grade in Tehran, Iran, for 10 years. Upon her return to the United States, she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, and worked for Mutual Security Insurance and Fort Wayne Cardiology. She retired at the age of 85. Neva was a Godly woman who loved the Lord and her family. She will be remembered for her kind and gracious heart, beautiful smile and strong faith. She was a lifelong member of St. Joe United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Neva is survived by her loving daughters, Cindy Harding (Ray) of Joplin, Missouri, Shelly Schenkel (Scott) and Jana Stoiber (late husband Eric) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, whom she adored and was very proud of. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Thomas J. Johnson.
A funeral service to honor Neva's life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the St. Joe United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, with visitation one hour prior. Additionally, the family will receive friends and family for a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 20, 2022 at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. With a private family ceremony, she will be laid to rest at Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana.
