Born in 1943, Nancy A. McCormick, a native of Fort Wayne, In., died of Leukemia on July 21, 2021, at her residence in Hollywood Hills, California. She had a successful career as a screen writer, producer, actress and model in the United States as well as in Europe.
Nance was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Jane and Clifton McCormick, and her husband Gerald Gordan, an EMMY Award winning actor. (Gerald had performed in Broadway plays, portrayed doctors on NBC and ABC TV Soap Operas, as well as being a famous film star in: “Patty Hearst”, “One Man’s Way”, “Mirage”, and “40 pounds of Trouble”, to mention a few of his movies.)
Surviving Nance, is her brother Michael McCormick and his wife, Becky, and their two children, Erin Frazier(children - Blake Steidel, Owen Frazier, and Finley Frazier) and Brian McCormick (wife Mandy, children - Maura, and Cooper).
Most of Nance’s childhood was spent growing up in Indiana, but later her family moved to Erie, Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Academy High School in 1961. In the 1960’s she attended Western College for Women at Oxford, OH but later graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, in 1965. While attending college, Nance joined the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
To pursue a modeling career and study acting, in 1965, Nance moved to New York City. She joined the Stewart Agency and was a haute couture fashion photographic model. She modeled trend-setting fashions by famous designers such as: Roy Halston, Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, Jean-Louis Scherrer and Harry Algo, to mention a few. She has been featured on the cover of “Annabella” in Milan, Italy; Cover of GQ Magazine (Gentlemen’s Quarterly Atlanta); in Vogue Magazine; Life Magazine; and Simplicity Magazine, as well as other magazines.
Nance also performed on stage in “Boy on a Straight Back Chair”, an off’ Broadway play, as well as some other off’ Broadway plays in New York City.
During her career, she has written scripts for various TV series: “Bosom Buddies; “Bill Cosby’s” Comedy Show; “All in the Family”; “Dukes of Hazzard; and “Good Times”. Nance’s latest work is a screen play, “The Candy Bomber”, which is in development.
Because of her many interests in the film and TV performance industry, she has kept her permanent residency in New York City and also in Hollywood, California for her entire career.
