MILDRED K. McAFEE, 94, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011. She was a graduate of St. Catherine Academy and St. Joseph School of Nursing; was employed by Dr. Brosius for over 25 years; was a lifelong member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church; and a member of Widows of Prayer and The Most Precious Blood Rosary Society. She faithfully distributed Holy Communion to the homebound and was affectionately known as "the cereal lady" at Trinity United Methodist Church. She attended Bishop Dwenger football games until the age of 93. Surviving are her sister, Ida Degitz of Anderson; daughters, Mary Rose Becker of Dayton,Ohio, Margaret (Edward) Schaab and Virginia (Kenneth) Filler, both of Fort Wayne, Susan (Douglas) Koerner of Reno, Nev.; sons, George (Paula) McAfee of Indianapolis, Norbert (Nancy) McAfee and William (Maureen) McAfee, both of Fort Wayne, and Timothy McAfee of Chicago, Ill.; son-in-law, William Nesbitt of Elida, Ohio; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; daughter, Anne (Nesbitt) McAfee; son-in-law, Donald Becker; four brothers; and five sisters. "She will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends and church. " Mass of Chrisitan Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold, with visitation one half hour prior. Fr. Joseph Gaughan officiating.
