Michael "Mike" William Gillig, 67, passed away Monday August 30, 2021 at Silver Birch Assisted Living in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born June 11, 1954 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Richard and Joan Gillig. He attended St. John the Baptist Elementary School, and graduated from South Side High School in 1972. Mike had worked at Van Dyne Crotty for ten years, National, and UniFirst linen companies for a combined five years, and DeBrands Chocolates for three years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the White Sox, Cubs, Colts, Packers, and Notre Dame. He ran in, and completed several marathons throughout his life. Mike loved watching old TV sitcoms and comedies. He had a strong passion for blues, but enjoyed all genres of music, to which you would often see him playing along with his air-saxaphone, and/or drums. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed chatting with kids and seniors.
He is survived by his daughter Nicole Gillig of Fort Myers, FL; brothers Eric (BD) Gillig of Cheboygan, MI; Stephen (Ann) Gillig of Fort Wayne, IN; sister Ann (Dewey Satterfield) Williamson of Fort Wayne, IN; grandsons Hunter Ramos and Jaxon Gillig both of Fort Myers, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be 3pm Saturday September 11, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home 1140 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN with visitation two hours prior at the funeral home.
