Merrie "Kat" Voltz

Merrie "Kat" Voltz, age 62, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Merrie was born November 5, 1959 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Clare W. Payton and Dorothy A. (Lot) Payton. As a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Merrie worked as a waitress for 20 years and as a clerk at Family Dollar, a job which she very much enjoyed. In her free time, Merrie loved crafting, flower gardening, vegetable gardening, and connecting with friends and family on Facebook.

Merrie is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Curtis Voltz; her children, Adam Jackson, Eric Borton, and Shea Borton; her step-daughter, April Hiles; her siblings, Cherrie Ryan, Jim Payton, George Payton, Robert Payton, and Richard Payton. Also privileged to share in her life were four grandchildren, Raedon, Harper, Emily, and Hartly. Merrie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John; and her aunts, Rose and Florence.

Funeral service for Merrie will occur on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior. A graveside service will occur at the conclusion of the funeral service at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
