Mary "Marcy" Marcella Sorg

Mary “Marcy” Marcella Sorg, 100, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at her home. Mary was born May 26, 1922 in Allen County, daughter to the late Joseph A. and Cloe I. (Myers) Giant. She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and worked throughout her life as a homemaker, caring for her family. She was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She is survived by her children, Mona L. Hart, Suzanne M. Hudson, Coleen (James) Rogers, Jean E. Bruce, Cynthia (Bud) Sorg, all of Fort Wayne, Thomas J. (Laurie) Sorg of Yoder, Kay (Jim) Freiburger, Anthony A. (Leigh) Sorg, Timothy L. Sorg, all of Fort Wayne, Terrence J. Sorg of Fishers, IN, and Ted (Julie) Sorg of Roanoke, IN; 45 grandchildren; 90 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Thomas H. Sorg in 2007; and her siblings, Carlton Giant, Randolph Giant, Jake Giant, Maybelle Ryan, and James Giant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Road, Yoder, Indiana 46798 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Contributions in Marcy’s memory may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
