Mary J. Macke, 96, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. Mary was born on April 19, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel (Merrill) Muckenfuss. She attended and graduated from South Bend Riley High School. She worked at home caring for her family, later at Concordia Senior College, and at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in the office. She was a lifelong Notre Dame fan and worked there in her younger years. Surviving family include her children, Deborah (Thomas) Medley and Thomas Macke; grandchildren, Kelley, Katelyn, Kristen, and Madison and five great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard Muckenfuss. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Donald Macke; and brother, Robert Muckenfuss. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Worship Anew.
