Mary E. Jones

Mary E. Jones, 89, passed away at Summit City Nursing Home, on February 4, 2018. She was born on May 7, 1928 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of the late Luther and Mary B. Hardy. Mary graduated from Central High School. She worked as at CNA at the VA hospital, where she retired from after over 20 years of service. Mary’s hobbies included aquariums and aquatics and she enjoyed raising fish and won various trophies for the fish that she raised. Mary was baptized at a very early age. She was a past member of Union Baptist Church. Surviving are her special niece, Brenda Richardson; nieces, Dorothy Alexander, Gwendolyn Northington, and Sharon Hopkins; a host of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Rufus (Shirley) Jones; sister-in-law, Thelma Hardy; and many other close family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammer Jones; 6 brothers; 3 sisters; several nephews, nieces, and great-nieces; and great-great nephews. Funeral service will take place at 11AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN 46805, with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation will take place from 6-8pm on Friday, February 16, 2018 also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.
