Marvin R. Wilson, 73, of Fort Wayne Indiana passed away in his home on Wednesday the 13th of September. He was born on 15th of June 1950 in Greenville Tennessee to Bernard and Dollie Wilson. Bernard was a WWII vet who fought and survived at the Battle of the Bulge where most of his company was killed and Dollie was a homemaker. Marvin graduated in 1968 from South Greene High School.
Marvin married the love of his life, Melanie Sams on Oct 1st 1983. He had devoted himself to providing his wife with loving in home care the last 7 years after her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s in 2014. They were married just shy of 40 years.
Marvin was an over the road Owner Operator of 4-M’s Trucking, where he hauled mostly steel until retiring in 2012.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Melanie, daughters, Carrie Wilson, Megan (Carl) Bauer, and Melissa (Tyler) Egbert, grandchildren, Matthew Jaggers, Tabitha Jaggers, Alexis Wilson, Kaylie Houser, Maylee Bauer, Moriah Bauer, and Maggie Bauer, sisters, Glenna Garett and Linda (Harold Rhea) Daniels, aunt, Rena May Whitt, and grand puppies Oliver and Lucy.
Marvin had a passion for food, and was excellent in the kitchen, always eager to cook for his family and friends. He was known for his biscuits and gravy, blueberry pancakes, spaghetti, and brisket or anything else off a smoker. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, watching the ID channel, going to the horse track, cheering on the Colts or Tennessee Vols, as well as vacationing to Myrtle Beach or his hometown of Greenville.
Marvin had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing practical jokes. He also had many great one-liners. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Friday September 22, 2023 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home 4017 Maplecrest Road Fort Wayne IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 4-8 pm Thursday September 21, 2023 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of NE Indiana or Alzheimer’s Association.
